Back in my day. . .

Today I was having an "I feel old" day. I know, I have a long life yet to live, but here are my thoughts (please keep in mind I am NOT a poet).

When I was a kid, we actually had to lick our postage stamps if we wanted them to stick
And to get into our cars we had to insert a key and turn until the lock clicked.

Of course, the parking lot was more serene without the random honking
But the noise is such a small price to pay for automatically opening doors, and long-distance locking.

Oh what ease we have today!

In my day, a report about the body required an encyclopedia or trip to the library . . .
Now an Internet a connection is all we need
And who cares if our source says orange is the color we bleed.

Now, with all my free time, I wonder what to do—
Humm, I’ll talk to a friend about you-know-who

I used to call her on a phone with a wire attached to the wall.
Now, I’ll text BFF, MYOB, JK, LOL! Instead of call.

I must be old, I’m afraid there’s no doubt.
In high school the price of a movie raised to $3.75 and I was put out!

I never worried about cancer from a cell phone, or what to put in my blog.
And now if I want to buy something, onto the computer I log.
I kept my checkbook balanced on paper, now I pay my bills on line
And, you know, if I had never heard of Harry Potter, I’d probably be fine.

Wow, times have changed but I’d never go back.
I’ll take the good and the bad
Because between my husband and children,

These are the best blessings I’ve ever had.
