American Idol

This weekend Taylor's Physical Therapy Idol, Mark Miller, was in town teaching a course. Turns out Janet Day (Taylor's co-worker) knows Mark really well and Mark is staying with the Days for the weekend. As a favor, Janet invited us and two other couples to her home for dinner on Friday so we could rub shoulders with Mr. Miller.

The Day's live in a gated community among intimidating homes and distinguished people (Dr. Day is the head Anesthesiologist at St. John.) And, this was my first party with alcohol being consumed by most of those present. In all, I was quite nervous.

Anyway, besides my fly being down, calling one of the other girls by the wrong name, and the uncomfortable moment when Taylor and I ask for a Fresca, it went really well. Taylor was thrilled to play pool and toss some pizzas with his "Idol." It was fun, and I'm grateful to have survived.

This week, I read to Brayden's class. If you ever need to read to a group of 4 and 5 year olds, I recommend "The Incredible Book Eating Boy," and "The Dot." A few good ones I've read in the past are "Room on the Broom," "The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything," and "Snowmen at Night." Just in case you need to know.

About two weeks ago I took Kylee to the Aquarium with some friends. It was to celebrate Drew Heinig's Birthday--Drew is the pair of pants in the upper left of the picture.

Yet another way to enjoy the fort.

Brayden at Katie's Birthday party. This pool is at a hotel--the deepest part is 3 1/2 feet deep, so the kids feel comfortable even if they can't swim. It had two slides and a lily pad crossing in addition to the waterfall palm tree and fountains. Brayden now wants to have his birthday party here. At least he isn't set on Chuck E. Cheese anymore.

When Kylee saw me in my glasses after a Sunday nap, she had to wear Mr. Potato head's glasses. Ahhh, cute.

We always give the kid's their bath after dinner. However, tonight I made pizza for the kids and Taylor was at a Court of Honor. The dough took longer than I anticipated, so I figured I'd bath the kids and get it over with.
Turns out that wasn't such a good idea. What a mess!
