I took Brayden and his friend, Memphis to the movies this week to see "The Bee Movie." A local theater plays old kid's movies for free during the week days in the summer. The movie went pretty well--as long as I kept the treats coming, the kids were happy. After the movie I had to make a quick stop at the grocery store, so I just took the boys in with me. I turned my back for a minute and when I turned back around there was a puddle of pee on the floor. Apparently, Memphis had to use the bathroom, but didn't say anything. Quite embarrassed, I went and told the cashier that one of the boys had an accident. What kind of accident? He asked innocently. At this point, I had no other choice but to bluntly say "There is a puddle of pee on the floor" and then rush out as quickly as possible. Once to the car, I realized that Memphis is was holding the DVD he had been looking at--so I had to go back (mortified, now) and explain that we had taken a DVD without paying for it.
This is the same boy that was over when Brayden swallowed the marble and who got my "You're-not-my-kid-but-I'm-mad-at-you" voice for peeing on my back lawn. I guess you could say Memphis and Brayden have been through a lot together.
Later that day, the whole family walked down the street to give Sister George a birthday gift. Brayden had drawn a card to go with it. There was only one problem--Sister George's birthday is this COMING week. Maybe I should check my calendar more closely. Sheesh.
This week I learned that hard white wheat is in short supply. You lucky people who live by food-storage stores should buy it now. We have to pay for shipping and wheat isn't exactly un-heavy.
