Pumpkin Patch field trip

Brayden's class field trip to the pumpkin patch was this week.

We took a hay ride out the the pumpkin fields to select a pumpkin. The morning started off bitter cold, but really warmed up as the day went on.

Kylee displaying her oh-so-cooperative mood.

There was a really great collection of activities for the kids. This is the slide that Kylee went down with me, but Brayden wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole.

Ever since I heard about this field trip, I've been dreading it. I was worried that Brayden would get lost, but I don't know anyone well enough to watch Kylee so I couldn't leave her with a friend and go with Brayden. I opted to go with Brayden and take Kylee with me. That was an adventure.

After the kids had picked their pumpkins and eaten lunch it was free time. Each of the parents were in charge of three kids. I guess I had four because of Kylee. Everything went great until it was time to leave. We were on our way back to the gathering place and Brayden got distracted and ran off at the exact same time the other two kids got sight of the gathering place and ran in the opposite direction. In a split second I had lost them.

The other two were fine, but I could not find Brayden. I called for him and looked and couldn't find him. I ended up handing Kylee off to one of the other moms (almost a complete stranger), running to the general store and having them radio to all their employees to look for a 5 year old boy in a red hat and green tie-died shirt. I eventually found him crying. I was so very relived and overwhelmed with life in general. I'm sure I made a great first impression on the other parents. Sigh.

I hate that feeling of losing a child! We lost Weston at the Hogle Zoo once, scary.
