Spring break weekend

For the weekend of Spring break, we took a family trip to Albuquerque. It was kind of a last minute trip because we had planned to take the kids camping, but we got an unexpected cold front. I got a teacher for my gospel doctrine class and we went Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Friday we spent the morning driving and then checked into our hotel. We took advantage of the indoor pool, which the kids loved.

After the pool, we decided to check out the area. We found a new, modern shopping center (reminded me a little of the Riverwalk crossing in Jenks or the Riverwood shopping center in Provo, but a little more extensive). We stopped at the Elephant Bar for dinner.

The kids were great, even though we had to wait a while to be seated. They got to color on their menue and wear animal (paper) glasses. We went back to the hotel and put the kids to bed and Taylor and I watched a little TV (luckily there was a "living area" separate from the bedroom).

Saturday morning we enjoyed the breakfast offered by the hotel--two eggs cooked to order, hashbrowns, bacon or sausage, and toast with juice and cereal for the kids--and then we were off to the zoo and the aquarium.

The flamingos.

In the rainforest exhibit.

Kylee and I share the same feelings about the rainforest exhibit--it smells!

The bald Eagle

Brayden had a great time on the playground. In fact, on the way to the zoo he kept saying "I hope there is a playground!"

We took the train from the zoo to the aquarium. The kids loved--but it was so slow!

At the aquarium. We grabbed lunch here and had a good time.

Waiting for the train to take us back to the zoo and our car.

Back at the zoo, there were peacocks just wandering around. We were able to sit on the bench next to one!

After a quick trip to good 'ol Walmart, we headed back to the hotel to make our own dinner. The kids found an interesting place to watch the TV. Typically, I would have been really grossed out, but Taylor had lysoled the entire place and cleaned the tub upon arrival. He even put a spare sheet over the couch so we could sit on it without germs and we put the remote in the bag they give you to line the ice container. We aren't paranoid are we?

Afer dinner, we headed back to the pool. This time, I didn't get in so I took some pictures.
Kylee loved jumping in over, and over,

and she almost has the back float down.

Brayden loved catching a ride on the dad-train.
It was a much needed break from life. On Sunday we enjoyed breakfast at the hotel again and then drove home. It was nice to get a way. A little sad to come back.

What a fun spring break! Those sand dunes look awesome. Kids will remember the pool though, that's what i remember from our family vacations.

Thanks for the laugh. I was rolling in laughter over the lysol and remote in a bag. Glad you had fun!
