New Van

Last weekend, Taylor and I finally bought a minivan. We've been talking about if for years, but with number three on the the way, it was finally time.

This purchase was interesting to say the least. Long story short, we agreed on a price with the sales rep and signed a paper with that price on it. After talking to the finance person, we signed a bunch more papers and were on our way. The whole process took around four hours and we had our kids with us, so we were just happy to have it over with.

As soon as we made the purchase, I felt uncomfortable with it. Finally, Sunday evening, I realized why. The final papers that we signed has a sales prices of almost $3,000 higher than what we had agreed to. (This is why there was no post last Sunday.) I didn't sleep much on Sunday night. I've never been so stressed and upset about something that I literally couldn't sit still--but I spent a good deal of time on Sunday pacing the floor.

Monday morning, I went, by myself, to the dealership and told them I wanted to return the van. Although no one laughed in my face, I know they thought I was a pregnant, over-emotional nut. Then I found the salesman that helped us. He sat by me the whole time. He even went and talked to the finance person with me and found the paper that we had signed with our agreed on price. Turned out this wasn't an official paper and he could have just shredded it if he had wanted to.

Over the course of the morning I had an experience where I opened my mouth and words that were not my own came out. I truly believe the Lord was with me the whole time.

Finally, the manager of the dealership agreed to honor the negotiated price. I was so grateful! The whole morning was a series of miracles from my friend who came to watch my kids at eight in the morning on thirty minutes notice to the phone calls I had made earlier. I am especially grateful that we ended up with an honest salesman. We had been to the lot three times and he was the third person to help us--I am pretty confident neither of the first two would have stood by me--especially considering it meant a decrease in commission.

Now that the whole ordeal is behind us, I love our van! I feel so blessed to have it, for more reasons than one.

I'm glad that things worked out. I know it sounds stupid, but I actually felt relieved when I read that you got the price you had originally agreed on.

How exciting to join the minivan family. You will love it, and I'm glad that everything worked out- you go girl! It brought back good memories seeing Brayden's t-ball pictures. That was so fun last year with the Outlaws. I'm glad he had a fun year this year too. It is fun to see how cute and pregnant you are. I wish you lived closer so that we could be a part of the whole experience :). Tell the fam hello for us!

Way to go getting back over there and straightening that out. Definitely not one of my talents. Jared would be so proud of you.
