First Two weeks of summer

Monday, May 28th

Me and Jodi

Today we had our traditional Scout Pancake Breakfast, complete with pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns, and milk or juice.  They even had a special batch of gluten-free pancakes for the handful of kids with a gluten allergy.  Taylor, as usual, brought his huge wok and did all the eggs.

We then had our "Ward Family Reunion" at the park.  I love this tradition!  Brayden is cheering on his team while waiting for his turn to kick in kickball.  For the looks of it, he takes his kickball game very seriously.

Tuesday, May 29th

We went to see "Funky Mama" at the Library.  This was truly a fun mama!  She sang original songs with her electric guitar.  It made me feel like we were at a one woman wiggles-type show.  Brayden thought himself a little too old, until he got chosen to be on stage.  That made him pretty happy! The kids then spent the afternoon with friends.

Wednesday, May 30th

Today we met some friends at Check E. Cheese.  We went right at 9:00am when they opened and had the place pretty much to ourselves.  It was the perfect time to be there--I think we will do that again.  We finished the day by swimming.

Thurs, May 31

Today we had a fun "field trip."  We spent the morning at the aquarium and then went to the park for a picnic.  That night was "Meet the Teacher night for the summer program.  I teach the oldest class, which is Brayden's class. Kylee's class will be two doors down and her teacher and I have outside time during the same hour, so I get to see the oldest two at work every day.

Friday, June 1

Today we made moon sand in the back yard: 8 cups flour to 1 cup baby oil.  I plan to use in my summer classroom.  We had a great time with the sand, then went swimming and ate ice cream.

Saturday, June 2

Lacie was in town today.  Taylor and I switched off going to Saturday meetings for stake conference and all the Dickerson side took the kids to the Bartlesville Kiddie Park.  Uncle Tyler spun Kylee and Brayden so quickly in one of the rides that Kylee couldn't hold her head up!

Sunday, June 3rd

Today was stake conference and it was nice to have Taylor sit with us in church. We enjoyed the evening as a family.

Monday, June 4nd

Today was the first day of summer camp.  We had a great time in our class learning about space.  One of the biggest hits of the day was "asteroids."  I had the kids rip out magazine pages and wad them up to make our asteroids.  We then divided into two teams, with each time on one side of a line.  The team with the most Asteroids on their side after one minute lost.  They had a great time throwing those paper wads at each other!  The winning team each round got to ride the elevator to the second floor and throw a few asteroids off the balcony.

Tuesday , June 5

This morning we took a trip to the ice cream factory for a tour and some ice cream.  After getting lost on the way home, we spent the afternoon swimming.

Wed, June 6th

Every Wednesday at summer camp is water day.  We set out Kiddie pools, sprinklers, a slip n' slide and soaker balls.  The kids put one of the hoses down the playground slide to make their own water slide.  We were having such a fun time, we just stayed outside to eat lunch.

Thursday, June 7th

Today we had a great time checking out the fire station.  We got to walk through the station, watch a presentation by the firemen and then explore the fire engines.  It was great to see so many friends there!  The kids went home with some of them after the station.

Friday, June 8th

We spent the day playing with friends and then went to our first Drillers game.  It was fun to watch the game, but the real highlight was choosing which food item to purchase.  The stadium has a playground and splash pad, too, but it was so crowded we didn't spend much time there.

Saturday, June 9th

We woke up today with a long list of things to do.  I ask Taylor if he thought we should think of something fun to do with the kids.  He told me I was crazy!  I guess we do have to run errands some time.  We were also able to pass off most of Brayden's remaining requirements to become a Wolf in scouts.  And Taylor put a ceiling fan up in Kylee's room--get ready for the heat!
